DENTON – Just in time for their “first” anniversary, a new food truck has opened in-residence at Armadillo Ale Works called Swine & Garden. (Technically, Armadillo began some 6+ years ago, but today marks one year in their current building.)
The menu at Swine & Garden is described as “local love, farm to fork,” with artisanal offerings of pork dishes, charcuterie and fresh vegetarian options. Daily off-menu specials are featured.
Lunch consisted of Bohunks, Hungarian sausage meatballs in a spicy paprikash sauce with house slaw, and Garden Tacos of curried cauliflower, kale slaw, cucumber pico and salsa. The tacos were flavorful but a little dry; however, the meatballs and related sauce were fantastic.
This epitomizes the food truck ideal that other cities have figured out but is largely missed in all of Dallas/Fort Worth: unique, quality, scratch-kitchen selections at an affordable price point. It is the first local food truck that I’d consider visiting more than once.
