LEWISVILLE – First visit to local bourbon distillery. Great taproom, large full-service bar and patio with some specialty products, limited kitchen. Gift shop, scheduled tours throughout the day.
Tried their standard Witherspoon Flight, sampler as follows.
Straight bourbon: Their flagship product. Great bourbon, would drink regularly.
Port-finished bourbon: Single-barrel series, somewhat subdued version of their bourbon. Port barrel element is very subtle, more wood or darker elements in the nose than the taste.
Bottled Old Fashioned: Packaged version of the cocktail. Nice but prefer the drink freshly mixed.
Bourbon cream: Blended with cream, equivalent to Bailey’s. Sweet with hints of coffee and cocoa, would be better mixed in another drink.
