Armadillo Bourbon Barrel-aged Quakertown Stout

DENTON – Mixed feelings about this one.

The beer is fine: plenty of bourbon, woody flavors on base of robust, roasty stout. Hint of vanilla, good body, no alcoholic heat at all.

But the Quakertown Stout is a near-perfect example of an oatmeal stout, and one of the best beers currently brewed in North Texas. Not sure the style benefits much from barrel-aging.
